Why Reviewing a Photographer’s Portfolio Matters (and How It Helps You Find the Perfect Fit)
Before you book a photographer in Baton Rouge—or anywhere, really—there’s one step that can make or break your experience: reviewing their portfolio.
A photographer’s body of work tells a story about how they see people, light, and connection. Taking the time to explore their galleries helps you find someone whose artistic vision truly aligns with what you love. Because when you and your photographer are creatively in sync, that’s when the magic happens.
My Approach: Lifestyle & Documentary Storytelling
As a lifestyle and documentary photographer, my work leans toward what’s natural and real. I focus on movement, natural light, and genuine emotion—the laughter between poses, the small gestures, and those quiet, unguarded moments that say more than any perfect pose ever could.
While I can absolutely create the classic, forward-facing portraits that every family wants, my heart lives in the candid, storytelling side of photography. If you prefer traditional, static images, I might not be your girl—and that’s perfectly okay. There’s nothing wrong with wanting that more formal style!
But if you’re drawn to images that feel warm, nostalgic, and honest—photos that show personality and connection—then my style might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
What to Expect in Your Gallery
When I deliver your proof gallery, expect a mix that reflects my creative approach as a documentary and lifestyle photographer: about 75% candid, storytelling images and 25% traditional poses.
Those candid frames—the ones that feel effortless and true—often become the favorites. Still, if you love my vintage, film-inspired tones but prefer more posed shots, just say the word. We can absolutely balance both.
And honestly, even if you lean more traditional, I’ll always include a few of my favorite candid images in your final gallery. Because if I can’t live without them, you shouldn’t have to either.
Trust the Process
When I guide you through a session—asking you to walk together, laugh, or simply take a deep breath and be still—trust me. Those gentle prompts are what lead to the real, emotive portraits that tell your story.
As a natural light photographer, I know how to use subtle direction to help you relax and look your best while keeping the focus on connection and feeling. Those are the moments that become the most loved, timeless images.
Why the Portfolio Matters
Looking through a photographer’s portfolio isn’t just about seeing pretty pictures—it’s about finding someone whose way of seeing aligns with how you want to be remembered.
If the images make you feel something—if you can imagine yourself in that same light, that same emotion—then you’ve found the right photographer for you.
And if that person happens to be me, I can’t wait to tell your story in a way that feels real, timeless, and true.
